Our Story
Welcome to Roving Spirit Canine Coach, where I believe every dog deserves training that’s as engaging as it is effective—no aversive methods, just compassionate learning for everyone involved. My training methods are always going to be based on building bonds, making learning fun and not to mention up to date developments in neurobiology and how dog learn best!.
It’s all about blending compassion, intuition and expertise to achieve exceptional results.
Before I became a qualified Dog Trainer, I had worked in a Veterinary Surgery, Animal Sanctuary and Kennels. I then moved on to Education establishments where I worked for 25 years as either a Learning Mentor, Key Worker, Cover Supervisor or Neurodiversity Coach.
I also have a 2:1 degree in Visual Communications from The University Of Wolverhampton.
After rescuing my own dog, Fennel, in 2002, I soon discovered she was mostly Malinois rather than the generic cross breed described by the rehoming centre.
If you arent sure what a Malinois is, well let me tell you. The Belgian Malinois is a highly intelligent, highly energetic and independent dog. Not particularly recommended for a 1st time dog owner, and often known in the dog training world as 'Maligators'. They are capable of great things and definitely more appropriate for the seasoned dog owner!
This unexpected revelation plunged me into the world of how many things can possibly go wrong with dog behaviour!. Fennel brought a huge challenge into my life, which I wasn't quite prepared for and I had to learn fast.
For both our sakes!.
This began my lifelong journey into becoming a Professional Dog Trainer and Behaviourist.
Founded after my graduation from the VS Academy for Dog Training and Behaviour in 2019, Roving Spirit Canine Coach is dedicated to educating and empowering dog owners both in the UK and beyond. I’m currently wrapping up three years of advanced studies at The School of Canine Sciences, diving deep into canine psychology and behaviour. I'm also studying Scentwork. I know, I know. I just love learning as much as I can...and yes, I will be having a brain holiday soon.
Plus, I’m a certified Canine Hoopers World Instructor.
At RSCC, my ethos is simple: "We want our dogs to enjoy doing things for us because they find it rewarding, not because they fear what will happen if they don’t."
